Anirban’s professional journey is inextricably linked to his deep love for learning and his ability to take chances. Graduating with distinction from Sardar Patel College of Engineering, with a Bachelor's in Engineering and Computer Science, Anirban began his career as an analyst at Microsoft. While designing and developing a highly effective automation framework, he was also actively involved in mentoring new hires. His effective leadership at an early stage in his career led him to become the automation lead, managing a 7-member team, all within his first year at Microsoft. So when Anirban graduated top of his class in marketing from IIM Ahmedabad in 2012, few expected that he would gravitate towards product management for a gaming company like Zynga. Anirban describes his first year at Zynga as a ‘finishing school for PMs’. He thrived in his role as Growth and Retention Lead for Hidden Shadows, a Facebook game launched by Zynga in June 2013. Taking his career in product management forward, Anirban joined Hike Messenger and quickly ascended to Director of Product. At Hike, he developed several products like Hike Cricket, Hike Games, and Hike News – which at its peak had 2 billion story views. Perhaps the most interesting phase of his career began when he took a sabbatical from the startup life and turned a long-time passion for playing poker into a profitable opportunity. As a professional player, Anirban won a place in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, where he continued onto to win 25+ 6-figure tournaments. In March 2018, post his exciting hiatus from the corporate world, Anirban joined Dunzo as its first Product Manager, owing to the company’s incredible promise and his personal fondness as a user for the product. For Anirban, Dunzo presented an adventurous new challenge to build a hyperlocal delivery platform not just for users, but also delivery partners and merchants, operating in multiple verticals and complex delivery and transaction workflows at the backend. In less than 2 years at Dunzo, Anirban has built a strong product and design team, brought in monumental improvements in analytics, organisational planning, and demand prediction, all while simultaneously heading product and growth. He has witnessed Dunzo's hyper-growth first-hand, scaling 40x in less than 18 months. He continues to push the platform to become an ever-evolving solution, trying to tackle one of the greatest commerce challenges in India. As he deploys a roadmap to take Dunzo to 20M transactions per month, he gears up for some of the most promising and rewarding milestones of his career.
